New Faces

The project New Faces is a series of portraits dealing with the theme of identity and its loss, human individuality and the phenomenon of ideal of beauty. Each of paintings depict different views on the same face, base on personal confessions of portrayed and his friends. Thus we can observe confrontation of the "subjective" and the "objective", where this supposed "objectivity" acquire the relative value in the context of other pictures. The project points to the problem of self-perception and it explores how human perception distorts the reality, especially if more factors (than just a visual image of reality) affects the person.
The body image - the concepts and realities of PF students

The topic of this thesis is Body image - concepts and realities of students of the Faculty of Education. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the concept of body image, the mental component of body image, historical development of the beauty ideal of the human body and body image, determinants of body appearance, quality of life in connection with the body and body measurement options. The practical part was realized by using a quantitative questionnaire and a self-assessment visual scale BOBR. The research group consists of students of the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The aim is to find out if the concepts and realities in the field of body image differ among students of Faculty of Education. . Another aim is to find out what figure of the opposite sex do Faculty of Education students considered as ideal. The last aim is to find out if this ideal differs from the real appearance of the respondent's partners (if any).
Ideal of male beauty for adolescents

in English Beauty is an abstract concept, which extends into many specific areas of our lives. We assess it individually and subjectively. I'll try to use this work to explore how adolescents perceive and evaluate the beauty. It will focus on the ideal of male beauty. I am interested in major differences between the ideals of girls and of boys and will try to find out which areas of beauty are important for them a which are not. My target group are ninth grade students of elementary school aged between 14 and 15 years. The thesis has two parts. The first part is theoretical, in which I point out the importance of self conception in relation to adolescent age and physical appearance. Then I will describe and explain the importance of individual parts of the body and face. Subsequently I will also interpret basic theories of perception in relation to social perception. The second, practical part will present specific ideals of male beauty designed by girls and boys. I will introduce different ideals by different ways of view and try to interpret differences between girlish and boyish images of male ideals.
Finding beauty in the American TV entertainment: comparison shows Miss America and Americas next top model

This bachelor thesis focuses on the ideal of beauty and concept of beauty by two American broadcasts, Miss America and America's Next Top Model. The theoretical part provides knowledge about the genre of reality TV and its possible impact on viewers and public health. It covers the reasons that lead the television audience to watch this genre. Thesis also deals with beauty pageants and their tradition, the general ideal of beauty in today's society and the media world. The practical part deals with the research. In this section I summarize the research questions, methodology, samples of the research and the results of the analysis of the both shows. The results include major changes in both shows over time, the concept of beauty in the programs and the subsequent comparison of this concept and preferred appearance of the contestants.
Beauty ideal the human in a historical context.

The subject of this thesis is: ,,The ideal of beauty in historical context". It contains the development of beauty from the prime beginning to present time. It lists in detail each period of time and changes in it. The thesis also contains patterns of ideal of beauty, typology and classification of women, the factors influencing appearance of each person and gender stereotypes between man and woman . Undoubtedly, this issue includes objective and subjective evaluation and its development, also eating disorders and other negative influences.
